John M. Weber

John M. Weber, 84, of 242 Stoever Dr., New Holland, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mt. Joy.

Born in Lititz he was the son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Eckert) Weber. He was married 20 years in May to Hilda (Sperling) Weber. His first wife, Marjorie (Radl) Weber, died in 1988.

John worked for 37 years, retiring in 1984, as a tool and die maker at the former Sperry/New Holland plant.

He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Lancaster and enjoyed fly fishing. During WWII he served in the Army Air Force in the European/African and Middle Eastern Campaigns with the 114th AACS squadron. He has been a life member of the American Legion Cloister Post #429 in Ephrata and the VFW Charles E. Ludwig Post 7362 in New Holland. He also served as First Scoutmaster of Troop #137 BSA in New Holland.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Connie, married to Barry Strauss of Norwich, CT; a son, Steven, married to Linda Weber of Denver; two step sons, Mark Krug of Lancaster, and Eric, married to Tina Krug of Birdsboro; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 10 am at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Rachel Hackenburg officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
