Betty Arnason, of Hibbing, died Friday, May 15, 2009, in her home. She was born in Devils Lake, N.D., the daughter of Charles and Zetta Weed.

Betty attended the Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D., and then graduated from the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn. She had worked in Grand Forks, N.D., where she met and married Ray Arnason. They moved to Hancock, Minn., and then in 1957 to Hibbing, where she worked on the OB floor as a night nurse.

Betty loved to be with her family and friends, whether it be attending her grandchildren's many events or having lunches with friends. Betty had a knack for connecting with people wherever she went. She especially enjoyed time at the Burnt Shanty Lake cabin with her Burnt Shanty friends. She also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her children: Robert Arnason of Crooked Lake, Minn., Patricia (Tim) Casey of Perch Lake, Minn., Richard "Arny" (Carmen) Arnason of Brandon, Fla., and Kris Dilley of Hibbing; her grandchildren: Emily Casey, Karissa Dilley, Hannah Casey, Carly (Tom) Inforzato, Alida (Kyle Carlson) Casey, Bess Casey, Teal Arnason, Willa Arnason, Sigrid Casey, Erikur Arnason, Aden Casey and Annie Dilley; great-grandchildren: Isiah Dilley, and Toby and Mayzie Inforzato.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Arnason in 1991.
