Helen B. Alyea of Mesa, AZ Jan. 9, 1927 to June 16, 2011

After a short illness, Helen Alyea passed away quietly with her family near her on June 16, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona.

Born 1/9/1927 to Leonard and Susan Weed of Coeur d'Alene, ID, she grew up in the nearby town of Plummer. She married Robert M. Leonard in 1946, raised their family on Bainbridge island and was a true supporter of her kids' activities and husband's business. In 1977, Helen and Jay W. Alyea of Poulsbo married. Together they enjoyed their many friends in Poulsbo and cruising NW waterways with yacht club members from all around Puget Sound. Retirement took them to Mesa, AZ in 1982. There Helen was very active in the Apache Wells Women's Golf Association and proud of her four holes-in-one at AWCC. She was honored to participate in many Shrine activities and serve on various committees.

She is preceded in death by Robert M. Leonard, her three brothers, one sister and step-daughter, Jayne Wallace. Helen is survived by her husband, Jay Alyea, daughters Patricia Mitchell, Janet Cater, Roberta Weaver, son Robert F. Leonard, step-sons Kenneth Alyea, Donald Alyea, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
