PORT JERVIS - Helen Baker, 60, of 181 W. Main St., died Thursday after a short illness at the St. Francis Hospital here.

She was born in Mongaup Valley, to Frank and Jane S. Taggart Weed. She was married to the late Charles F. Baker.

Mrs. Baker was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of the First Presbyterian Church here, as well as a Democratic city committeeman, a member of the Democratic Club, the Orange County Democratic Committee and the Sunnyside Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Charles F. Baker Jr., of Norfolk, Va., a daughter, Mrs. Ann Barnes, of Barryville, two brothers, James C. Weed of Hollywood, Fla., and James R. Weed of Newburgh [not a typo, the obituary lists two James Weeds as brothers], two sisters, Mrs. Velmah McCrabie of Delansey and Mrs. Hattie DeVore of Port Jervis, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Gray Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis. The Rev. Richard K. Avery will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be in the Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville.
