BARCLAY, Marlene Joan - April 26, 1942 – May 5, 2014 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marlene Joan Barclay (nee Weigel) passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014 at the age of 72 after a lengthy battle with COPD. Marlene leaves behind her children: Linda (Terry), Terry, Cheryl, Dianne, Warren (Stephanie), and Charlene (Mike); her grandchildren: Tim, Julie (Dave), Brittany, Sara (Dan), Amanda, Courtney, Jessica, Claudia, Hilary, Cody and Kaylee; and great-grandchildren, Iris and Tyler. Marlene is also survived by her siblings, Vince (Glenda), Edward (Ann), and Gary (Yvette) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ralph; her parents John and Annie; sisters, Dorothy (Alfred) and Caroline; brothers, Lawrence, John, Wilfred (Mabel); and Dan and Dan’s wife Ada. Marlene was born in Girvin, Saskatchewan, and later moved to Calgary, Alberta to start a family. Marlene devoted her life to raising her children, and nurturing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cheering on her Calgary Flames and a night out at the casino, but mostly spending time with her family. A special thank you to her long-time family physician, Dr. Elwyn Brown. Marlene will be missed dearly by all. A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Marlene in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
