Mrs. Gertie Kennedy, 74, of rural Knoxville and a life-long resident of Marion County, passed away Saturday August 24 at Collin's Hospital where she had been a patient since August 5th. She had bee in failing health for sometime.
Born, Irma Gertrude Welch on June 11, 1894, she was the daughter of Robert P. and Margaret Ellen Hayes Welch. She was married on March 4, 1912, in Chariton, Iowa to Novie Kennedy and the couple always made their home in Marion County. They have lived on the present farm for the past 47 years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Preceeding her in death were her parents, five brothers and two sister.
Surviving are her husband, Novie; one son, Merle, of rural Knoxville; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
