Shortly after her birth the family moved to Marion county settling on a farm south of Knoxville, where she grew to womanhood.
On April 7, 1874, the deceased was united in marriage to Charles Bender and together they set up housekeeping on a farm in the Zion neighborhood. To them four children were born, one of whom died in infancy. During the years of their residence on the farm Mr. and Mrs. Bender with their three children attended Plymouth church, which church held an important place in Mrs. Bender's interests throughout the remiaing years of her life.
In 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Bender moved to the house on Roche street in Knoxville, which has since been her home. Mr. Bender died September 28, 1914, and since then Mrs. Bender has lived alone, but was often visited by her children and grandchildren and by her many neighbors and friends.
On April 1, 1907, Mrs. Bender united with the Presbyterian church of Knoxville, where she has been a faithful and esteemed member ever since. Her last attendance at church was on October 5, at the world wide communion service.
Mrs. Bender is survived by her three children, Mrs. Clarence Miller and Mrs. Asbury Overton, both of Knoxville, and J.C. Bender of Monticello; also by twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-children among, whom she was held in high and loving esteem.
Mrs. Bender was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal neighbor and friend, a faithful and worthy member of the church and an esteemed citizen of this county and community in which she spent her entire life.
Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church in Knoxville, Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Bond. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
