Visitation is at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.
He was born Nov. 6, 1941, in Emmons County, ND. His parents were John and Barbara (Welder) Welk.
He attended Valley City State University in Valley City, ND, and was a member of the Valley City State University Athletic Hall of Fame.
He married Janet Pfann May 27, 1967, in Casselton, ND.
He spent 18 years in Park Falls, moving with his family to Madison in 1993.
He was a bank owner and insurance agent, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Stacy (Jay) Ferkovich and Amy Welk; a grandson, Aaron Ferkovich; six brothers, Aloys, Eugene, Leo, Don, Francis and Herman; two sisters, Sally Ibach and Ann Fitzsimmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Clarence, Alfred and Joe.
