Pauline Mitzel, 84, Rural Granville, ND, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Pauline Lucy Welk was born August 6, 1930, the daughter of Balzer and Margaret (Baumgartner) Welk, in Sandhill Township near Orrin, ND. She was raised on the family farm and attended a rural school in the area. As a young adult, she assisted her parents with the operation of the family farm.

Pauline married Mike Mitzel October 17, 1949, in Orrin, ND. They moved to rural Granville, ND, where they farmed and ranched, and raised their children. On October 17, 2014, they celebrated their 65th Anniversary.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Granville, ND, where as a Christian Mother, she took pride in decorating and baking for all the special occasions at the church. She was currently a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.

Pauline took pride in many things but in her early days, she enjoyed raking hay with the horses, gardening, baking, and decorating her home, but one of her biggest prides were her flower beds. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
