Anton Tony Welk, 90, Carrington, died Monday, March 6, 2000, in Carrington Health Center.
Anton Welk was born May 16, 1909, the son of Balzer and Margaret (Baumgartner) Welk, in Orrin, N.D., where he attended school. He married Frances Brossart on Oct. 10, 1939, in Rugby, N.D. They farmed near Barton, N.D., before moving to a farm near McHenry, N.D., in 1958. They retired to Carrington in 1973.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Denis (Lavon), Placerville, Calif., David (Marilyn) and Raymond, Granite Falls, Wash., Joe (Mary), Fargo, and Marvin, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Antonia Gutenkauf, Pierre, S.D., Mary Mitzel, Hope, N.D., Elizabeth (Fred) Mitzel and Emily (Paul) Brossart, both of Rugby; and Pauline (Mike) Mitzel, Towner, N.D.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Mike and August; and sisters, Katherine Thomas, Frances Weigel, Barbara Koble and Margaret Sheet.
