OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Brian David Wells, age 50, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital of San Jose.
Brian was born Sept. 23, 1960, in Oak Ridge, the son of Roger Dale Wells and Sheryl Wells-Scharder. Brian lived in Oak Ridge until the age of 13 when he moved with his family to Powell, where he graduated from Powell High School in 1978 and then attended the University of Tennessee. Brian moved to California in 1985 and was employed as a system analyist for Santa Clara County. He enjoyed music, golf, cooking, computers, and volunteering with the homeless.
Preceded in death by his father, Roger Dale Wells, and his grandparents, Worth A. Stone, and Herbert and Betty Wells.
Brian is survived by his wife, Cheery Wells, of San Jose, Calif.; mother, Sheryl Wells-Schrader and her husband, Wayne, of Powell; grandmother, Margie Stone Blanton of Oak Ridge; son, Brian D. Wells II of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Kristyn Wells of Powell, Ashley Wells Beeler and her husband, Josh, of Powell, and Megan Wells of Powell; brother, Michael Scott Wells of Hesperia, Calif., formerly of Powell; sister, Sheree Whitmill and her husband, Doyle, of Maynardville; uncles, Kenneth Stone of Oak Ridge, Gary Stone and his wife of Karns, and Phillip Wells of Macon, Ga.; grandchildren, Rachael Wells, Kaytlyn Lane, and Jayden Wells Beeler; nieces, Sarai Johnson and Hannah Johnson; and nephew, Angelo Wells.
A funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Roscoe Oxendine officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
