AGED LADY SUCCUMBS

Mrs. Mary Jane Amacker, one of the most beloved and respected citizens of the White Sand community and Pearl River county, died at the home of Mrs. Bruce Ritchie Thursday morning at three o'clock after suffering a stroke Tuesday afternoon of last week. Mrs. Amacker was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Amacker had gone to the Ritchie home to visit her daughter, Mrs. Holden, when she became ill and could not be moved.
Funeral services were conducted at the White Sand Baptist Church Friday afternoon by her pastor, the Rev. Phil Walker, assisted by the Rev. James T. Horton, pastor of the Poplarville Baptist Church. Mrs. Amacker was buried in the White Sand cemetery beside the grave of her late husband, H. K. Amacker, who died May 5, 1929.
Mrs. Amacker was a life-long resident of this county and was known by most of the people in the county. She was a devoted mother, a devout member of her church and a progressive member of her community. She was one of the oldest members of the White Sand church. She was born May 6, 1861.
Survivors include eight children, Dr. O. H. Amacker, Tylertown, Warren W. Amacker, Sollie J. Amacker, Mrs. Susie Tynes and Mrs. E. T. Holden of the White Sand community, J. Cleveland Amacker, Jackson, Mrs. H. A. Bennett, Lumberton, Mrs. Laura Wheat, Buck Branch; two half brothers, J. A. Moody and Dr. J. W. Moody, Poplarville; and three half sisters, Mrs. J. M. Bilbo, Tylertown, Mrs. Nannie Askew, Columbia, Mrs. Louisa Smith, Mobile, Ala.
Pall bearers were Lawrence Holden, Bruce Ritchie, H. K. Rouse, Leopold Loeke, Martin Smith and Forest Amacker.
McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
