The rectory of Holy Trinity Church on Stafford avenue was the scene of a quiet wedding last evening at 9 o'clock, when the Rev. Prentice A. Pugh united in marriage Miss Sarah Trezevant Lockhart and Joseph P. Whitaker. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, W.T. Lockhart of Marianna, Ark., was gowned for the ceremony in her traveling suit of dark blue cloth, trimmed in blue of a lighter shade and white. Her hat was of light straw, with touches of blue, and she wore a corsage bouquet of Bride roses and lilies of the valley. Frank Whitaker, who served as best man, was the only attendant. The ceremony was witnessed by about twenty-five intimate friends and relatives. Appropriate musical selections were rendered. Many beautiful presents attested the popularity of the young couple. Mr. Whitaker and his bride left immediately after the ceremony for Greenville, Tex., where they will visit relatives. They will visit in Dallas, Mineral Wells and other points before returning home. They will be at home to their friends on Willett street. (Published in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN, on June 27, 1912)
