Sister of Joe Will Whitaker and Ben Whitaker. According to family stories, her nickname of Sing, as she was called by practically everyone, came about because her brother Joe, who was little tongue-tied as a youngster, said "She's the prettiest little sing I ever saw."

Wife of Daniel Monasco Taylor whom she married August 13, 1939, in Hernando, Mississippi. First marriage to Willard F. Hill, on May 28, 1932 in Crittenden County, Arkansas.

Ilva "Sing" Taylor, 87, of Memphis, homemaker, died of heart failure Sunday at Millington Healthcare. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. She was a member of Frayser Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Taylor, the widow of Daniel M. Taylor, leaves a brother, Ben Whitaker of Cherokee Village, Ark. The family requests that any memorial be sent to the American Diabetes Foundation of American Alzheimer's Association. (Published in The Commercial Appeal on January 1, 2001)
