Elise Whitaker Melvin, 81, of Memphis, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 24, 2011. She was a member of Charjean Baptist Church, was former President of the PTA at Charjean School and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Melvin was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Melvin; and daughter, Pam Jones. She was a loving mother to her children, Dianne Melvin of Memphis, Sandy Hooks of Grenada, MS, Bob Melvin of Collierville, TN, Renee Ivy of Memphis and Alice Faye Newcomb of Corinth, MS; loving grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren; one brother, Elvin Whitaker of Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
