Emma Wilbur Amundson, 81, lifetime homemaker, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Stephenson Nursing Center after a five-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born on March 31, 1928, in Davis, the daughter of Winfield and Seevia Wilbur. Emma married Dolf Amundson on July 26, 1948. He passed away on Aug. 10, 2003.

She spent her final days under the loving care of hospice and the staff of the nursing home. Her family is eternally grateful for everything they did for Emma in her final days.

Surviving; her daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Homan and Ann Jacobs, both of Freeport, and Maria (Raymond) Lynch of Lanark; six grandchildren, Cory Engen, Leslie Jacobs, Dustin Jacobs, Mandy Jacobs, all of Freeport, Amanda Johnson of Port Orange, Fla., and Raymond Lyldren, Dominic and Darien Jackson and Ashton Jacobs, all of Freeport, and Hunter Johnson of Port Orange; and her extended family of nieces and nephews in Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Schwarz Park Boulevard Chapel, 608 S. Park Boulevard, Freeport. Private burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum, Freeport..
