Janice Sheldon, of rural Boyd, died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 73.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter in rural Dawson, MN. Rev. Lori Wold and Rev. Doris Weber will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter.
Janice Helen (Willand) Sheldon was born on October 18, 1941 to parents Ward and Helen (Borgadalen) Willand in Baxter Township of Dawson, MN. She was baptized in 1941 and confirmed in 1955 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter. She attended country school near her parents’ farm. She attended Dawson High School and graduated in 1959.
On October 4, 1969, she was united in marriage with Donald Sheldon at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter. To this union, a daughter and a son were born. They made their home on a farm in rural Montevideo for ten years. They moved to their present home in Baxter Township in 1980.
In her lifetime, Janice enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. She was active in Sunday School as a teacher for several years. She enjoyed soap making, quilting, sewing, and playing cards or bingo. She was very active in WELCA, Dawson Senior Citizens, and many other church groups and activities.
Janice is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald; daughter, Donna (Christopher) Schmidt of Shakopee, MN; a son, James Sheldon of Bismark, ND; grandchildren: Madison, Taylor, Ryan, and Sara; and a brother, Merlin (Ilene) Willand of Dawson, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Winton; a sister-in-law, Mona; and a daughter-in-law, Doreen.
