Rosemary McCarty, 84, of Memphis, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at McLaren Macomb Hospital, Mt. Clemens. She was born in Detroit, December 20, 1929, the daughter of the late James and Sarah (Healey) Williams.

Her marriage to John L. McCarty was November 17, 1953, at Annunciation Catholic Church, Detroit. John passed away September 23, 2009.

Rosemary, a devout Irish-Catholic, was a founding parishioners of Holy Family Catholic Parish's All Saints Catholic Church in Memphis and an active member for many years in the Daughters of Isabella.

Rosemary was a successful athlete and competed in women's basketball and speed skating. She was the head cook for Memphis Public Schools for over 20 years and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and playing pinochle with her close friends.

Rosemary was a coach and mentor to her children and was a loving and caring mother.

Visitation for family and friends of Rosemary will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion at 6:00 p.m.

Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Parish Catholic Church, Memphis with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Philip Ching, associate pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Kenockee Township.

Memorials are suggested to McLaren Hospice or Holy Family Catholic Parish Catholic Church.
