Arlene Ann Williams passed away in her sleep at home in Albuquerque four days before her 88th birthday. A proud native of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Arlene moved her family to New Mexico in the early 1960s. Her vivacious personality, boundless energy, and infectious enthusiasm made her a force to be reckoned with in the Albuquerque real estate market for three decades, where she once sold 19 homes in 19 days. During those years, Arlene was also part owner and manager of three Albuquerque dinner clubs, the Polynesian Inn, the Robin Hood Inn and the Golden Slipper. Arlene had a zest for life and learning, driven by an intense curiosity and quest for knowledge. Arlene was a Girl Scout leader, and a Red Cross swimming instructor, helping many children learn to swim. Arlene cherished and supported her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces and her two sisters. Their spirited debates are the stuff of family legend. Arlene was a proud American, an ardent supporter of the military, and loved a good cup of coffee and John Wayne movies. Arlene was active in the Republican Party for many years and sat on the Bernalillo County personnel board. Until her health faltered, Arlene worked at the polls every Election Day, and served as a precinct judge. Arlene was a great and generous friend to many. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Irene Williams, sisters, Mary Hatchitt and Margaret Williams and beloved partner, John McDaniel. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and William White, son, Arch Ramsden, daughter, Maggie Foxx, grandchildren, William and Kirsten White, Thomas and April White, Shane and Raquel Foxx and Tarah Foxx and great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Elanor, Mackenzie, Robert and Victoria White. A Rosary will be said on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at French - Lomas Albuquerque, NM. The Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM, with a reception to follow. Arlene will be interred at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
