Fort Dodge Messenger, May 31, 1968
George A. Williams, 90, a resident of Friendship Haven's Health Center, died at Mercy Hospital late Tuesday evening following a short illness. Services will be Friday at 8:30 a. m. in the Colonial Chapel of Laufersweiler's Funeral Home at 9 a. m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Very Rev. Msgr. Gerald Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Rosary services will be Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 8 o'clock at the funeral home. Surviving are a son, Bernard of Chicago, a sister Mrs. Carl Gulbranson, Alta, and a nephew in Fort Dodge, Bowen McIntyre. Born at La Fayette, IL, Mr. Williams moved to Galva with his parents as a child where he attended school, later attending business college in Cedar Rapids. In 1906 he entered the employment of the Illinois Central Railroad as a divisional accountant, where he worked until 1921.

Margaret Bowen, age 26, was married on November 12, 1912, to George A. Williams, age 34 at the Sacred Heart Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. George Williams was the son of John and Ida (Howell) Williams of Lafayette, Illinois. The marriage was witnessed by James McIntyre and Mary Bowen. James McIntyre is the husband of Martha (Bowen) McIntyre. Martha and Mary Bowen are sisters of the bride.

In 1921 he became an accountant for the Milwaukee Railroad. The couple moved to Chicago in 1932. Mrs. Williams died in 1957. In April of this year, Mr. Williams moved to the health center. Mr. Williams was a member of the St. Vincent parish in Chicago and the Holy Name Society of the parish.
