Jerusha, the former wife of Samuel Treat, Jr., is claimed by the 1893 published Treat Genealogy, and adopted by Stiles in his 1902 History of Ancient Wethersfield, Connecticut, to have been born nee Wolcott, despite no corresponding Jerusha Wolcott can be found. Unfortunately, the Treat Genealogy misinterpreted the 1748 division of the estate of the unmarried James Wolcott of Windsor, Conn. That genealogy claims the wife of Samuel Treat, Jr. "was probably Jerusha Wolcott, as he and William Stoughton, who married Martha Wolcott, were the only heirs to the estate of James Wolcott of Windsor, May 3, 1748."

James Wolcott was the maternal uncle of Samuel Treat, Jr. and by 1748 James Wolcott was the sole surviving son of Simon Wolcott and Sarah Chester of Windsor. James Wolcott had five siblings, and by 1748 his only surviving sibling was sister Martha (Wolcott) Stoughton. James and Martha Wolcott's oldest sister Sarah, the widowed mother of Samuel Treat, Jr., died at Wethersfield in 1743. The six Wolcott siblings were:

• 1. Sarah Wolcott, m. Samuel Treat, Sr, and was the mother of Samuel Treat, Jr. Samuel Treat, Sr. d. testate at Wethersfield, Conn. in 1732 and the widow Sarah died at Wethersfield in 1743. Samuel Treat, Sr. and Sarah Wolcott had only two children: dau. Sarah, who died at age 14 in 1743, and son Samuel, the sole surviving child of his parents.
• 2. Martha Wolcott, m. William Stoughton, and d. at Wethersfield in 1802.
• 3. Simon Wolcott, d. unmarried and testate at Windsor, Conn. in 1742. He left all of his property to brother James and named James executor of his estate.
• 4. Christopher Wolcott, d. unmarried, intestate and insolvent at Windsor Oct. 19, 1727, with his brother James appointed administrator of the estate.
• 5 Eunice Wolcott, d. unmarried at Windsor Feb. 18, 1724/25.
• 6. James Wolcott, d. unmarried and intestate at Windsor Feb. 16, 1747/48. His brother-in-law William Stoughton and nephew Samuel Treat, Jr. were appointed co-administrators. And as the two administrators were the sole surviving heirs of Simon Wolcott and of Simon's son James, 1/2 of James Wolcott's estate was divided to brother-in-law William Stoughton "in right of my wife Martha" and 1/2 was divided to nephew Samuel Treat "in his own right" as the surviving child of James Wolcott's deceased sister Sarah (Wolcott) Treat.

As further proved below, Jerusha, wife of Samuel Treat, Jr., never was a Wolcott.

Jerusha Andrews, dau. of Thomas Andrews (q.v. Andrus) and Love Knight, was b. of record June 14, 1716 at Hartford, Conn. (Hart. VRs) and bp. June 17, 1716 at the Hartford 1st Church (Ch. Rec.) On May 2, 1742, Jerusha was admitted to full communion of the Hartford 1st Church (ibid.) Then at an unrecorded date by the middle of 1747 (probably at the Hartford 1st Church), Jerusha m. 1) Samuel Treat, Jr., s. of Samuel Treat and Sarah Wolcott, b. Dec. 26, 1723 of record at Wethersfield, Conn. He was the paternal grandson of Lieut. James Treat and Rebecca Latimer of Wethersfield. Samuel d. testate at Wethersfield Feb. 23, 1756, Æ 33. They had five recorded children who are summarized in Samuel's memorial.

Jerusha's father Thomas Andrews died testate at Hartford, Conn. Sept. 12, 1754 (1st Ch. Rec.) and was interred at Hartford's "Ancient" Cemetery. In his will dated June 7, 1751, he named daughter "Jerusha Treat" as one of his heirs.

At the age of 41 the widow Jerusha (Andrews) Treat m. 2) Jan. 26, 1758 at Wethersfield, Conn. (Ch. Rec.), 26 year old Silas Loomis, s. of Charles and Sarah Loomis, b. of record Aug. 1, 1732 at Bolton, Conn. where he was bapt. Aug. 6, 1732. He d. at Wethersfield Jan. 27, 1791 (Ch. Rec.) leaving no known estate or burial record. Both were members of the Wethersfield Congregational Church, but there are no recorded children of the marriage. The widow Jerusha d. two years later at Wethersfield on Nov. 1, 1793 and is buried at Wethersfield (g.s., "Aged" 77.)
