Mrs. Wolcott was born the daughter of the late William and Edna Wilson Tripp Muller.

She was baptized at the church of her great-great-grandfather, Edmund Morris, Gravesend "Fishermen's" Methodist Episcopal Church. She was an active Girl Scout and bugler in the Drum and Bugle Corp. She attended Bay Ridge High School 1928-1932 and Brooklyn College where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She graduated in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She earned her MA in Christian Education and Master in Religious Education in 1942 at Hartford Seminary Foundation in Hartford, CT.

She began her career in Christian Education at the age of 15 as Sunday School teacher of a boys' class. She served as Supervisor of the nursery school at Hartford Seminary Foundation 1937-1938 and as Director of Christian Education on the staff of West Hartford Congregational Church 1938-1940. She was the Connecticut Council of Churches delegate to the International Christian Youth Conference in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in July-August 1939. She was Director of the Hudson Parish of the Newark Conference of the Methodist Church 1940-1945 and Director of Children's Work for the Boards of Education and of Missions of the Pittsburgh Annul Conference of the Methodist Church 1945-1951. She was ordained an Elder in the Methodist Church in 1950.

She was married to Leonard T. Wolcott Aug. 31, 1951 and dedicated the rest of her life to be his wife, his co-worker, homemaker, mother to their daughter, Joy, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She continued in Christian Education by training Sunday School teachers, as Sunday School teacher of grade school children, as writer in periodicals such as The International Journal of Religious Education, Children's Religion, Church School, and others, as author of and contributor to mission studies and Sunday School curricula over a period of 40 years. She served on the Curriculum Committee for the Board of Education of the Methodist Church. She authored several books for children including "God Planned It This Way", "At Jesus' House", "God Cares For Me", "God Made Me To Grow", "God Gave Us Seasons", "I Can Talk With God", "I Can See What God Does", and "Jesus Goes To The Market Place". She co-authored several books with her husband, Leonard Wolcott. She was an authority on Methodist history.

She played piano, organ, violin, and mandolin. She was an excellent dressmaker having made her daughter's wedding dress.

She served in ministry with her husband in England, India, Ecuador, The Congo, and Mexico.

Survivors include her daughter, Joy J. Vaughan; grandchildren, Tifanie Wright and Darryl Vaughan; and great-grandchildren, Chase and Morgan Wright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leonard Thompson Wolcott.
