She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Wright. She enjoyed a full and rewarding life with 40 years of public service with the Department of Social Services and later with Providence Hospital. She was a 1949 graduate of Auburn University and was also a member of Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and crosswords.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Bronwyn Brooks and Kathy Byars; grandsons, William Ervin Byars, Jr. (wife Lisa) and Thomas Lee Byars; great-grandson, Alexander Michael Thoman; step-great-grandchildren, Christopher James Smith and Jessica Blackmon Chowdhury; and five great-great-grandchildren.
