He married Carol Yarnelle in 1984, and for the past twenty years, the couple lived at Lake San Marcos. Before moving to Lake San Marcos, Art had been a State Farm Insurance agent for 35 years. He thoroughly enjoyed running his own business. In childhood he had shown an entrepeneurial spirit, working many odd jobs and making great and sometimes hilarious efforts to win slogan writing contests. Art's wife, Carol was the love of his life. Together they enjoyed golf, bridge, church activities, travel and visiting more than sixty different countries.
Art was a devout Christian, a descendant of Quakers who came to America for religious freedom in 1683.
Art is survived by his wife, Carol Yarnelle, of Lake San Marcos; his daughter, Beth Yarnelle (Geoff Rothman) Edwards, of Burlingame; and his stepdaughters, Pamela (Bruce) Ferguson and Candi (Taylor) Grant, both of Orange. He was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan Ferguson, of Orange; and is survived by seven grandsons, Greg Edwards, Travis Grant, Crosby Grant, Carter Grant, Graham Ferguson, Brady Ferguson, and Dane Ferguson. In addition, he is survived by two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Hailey Grant. A private service took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California on Saturday, October 25. The family also wishes to thank Elizabeth Hospice in San Diego County for their loving attention and assistance.
