George was born to William York (probably spelled "Jurksas" or "Jurkas" and Helen (or Ellen) Kubilas in Lithuania. After migrating to the USA, he lived in Detroit where he worked as a carpenter for Ford, and then moved to Grand Rapids where he painted houses and worked as a decorator. Preceded in death by a sister, Alzbeta Jurksas Sidiskis, (Elizabeth) of Shamokin, PA, George was survived by his wife Mary, nee Wisga, (probably) a son, Richard, a sister, Magdeline Grinkewich of Wisconsin, and brothers Anthony, and Joseph York, both of Cook County, Illinois.
