Mrs. Hazel A. Ferrell, 83, of Gladwin and former deputy county clerk for several years, died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 12, while visiting a granddaughter in Olympia, Wash. Born in Beaverton on September 6, 1892, she had spent her lifetime in the county. Mrs. Ferrell served as deputy county clerk from 1946 until her retiremetn in 1963. She was a member of the West Grout W.S.C.S. and the Gladwin First United Methodist Church.
The former Hazel York, she was married to Charles H. Ferrell on June 22, 1915, in Gladwin. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1971. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Mary Adele) Gyori of Detroit; one son, Richard of Gladwin; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. The Rev. Byron Hatch officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
