Arthur W. Young, 88, of Leavenworth, KS., died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Garden Terrace care facility in Overland Park, KS. A resident of Leavenworth since 1991, he moved from Denver, CO., where he had lived many years, He was born July 8, 1925 at Lansing, KS., the son of Frank T. and Edith Westthorpe Young. He was a 1943 graduate of Lansing High School and attended Kansas State University. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving from 1942 to 1946. He worked as a Draftsman for Midwest Iron and Steel in Denver, CO., retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lansing and the Leavenworth Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie # 55 in Leavenworth. He married his first wife, Catherine Alice Rusho on November 6, 1954 in Denver, she died on March 22, 1978. He was married to Margee Ruth Pence Reynolds on June 13, 1981 in Leavenworth, she preceded him in death on December 22, 2007. He married Ena Marie Baldwin on May 17, 2008 at Platte City, MO., she survives at the home in Lansing, KS., other survivors include, two daughters, Karen (Matt) Dupont, Centennial, CO., Debby (John) Perak, Coppell, TX, three sons, Greg (Colleen) Young, Broomfield, CO., Mike (Cindy) Young, Leavenworth, KS., Dan (Jennifer) Young, Olathe, KS., two step-daughters, JoAnn Verhaeghe, Overland Park, KS., Catherine (Michael) Gregory, Newmark, MO., four step-sons, Ken Reynolds, Monument CO., Tom Reynolds, Gladstone, MO., John Reynolds, Denver, James W. (Julie Holmes) Cobb, Four Seasons, MO., two brothers, Gene Young, Lansing, KS., Bill Young, Leavenworth, KS., 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Young and a granddaughter, Rebecca Reynolds. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday at St. Frances deSales Catholic Church in Lansing. A Parish Rosary will be at 5:30 PM, Monday with Visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday also at the Church. A Grave Side Service with military honors will be at 1:30 PM, Thursday at the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Denver. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis deSales Catholic Church or to Catholic Charities in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS. 66066.
