A memorial service for Ella Louise Cheskaty, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church, Seventh Street and Grand Avenue, with Pastor Victor Balla officiating. Mrs. Cheskaty died of natural causes Monday in Mesa Manor Care Center. She was 85. Mrs. Cheskaty was a homemaker. She spent most of her life in Grand Junction. She was born Sept. 14, 1907, to Andrew and Mary Brown Young in Blairsville, Ga. She spent her childhood in Grand Junction and attended Pear Park schools. She married Joe Cheskaty on March 29, 1924, in Grand Junction. He died in 1983 in California. Mrs. Cheskaty moved to Grand Junction in 1917 and then later spent 17 years in California before moving back to Grand Junction. She attended the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Cheskaty enjoyed gardening and raised many beautiful flowers. She was talented in needlework and making quilts. She also enjoyed embroidering and cut work. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence L. and Julia Cheskaty of Twin Falls, Idaho, Wesley and Ruth Cheskaty of Grand Junction, and Jack B. and Sharon Cheskaty of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Elsie Law of Hemet, Calif.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Six brothers are deceased.
