Mary Anna Valchar, 94, of El Campo passed away on February 8, 2014. She was born on June 30, 1919 in Wharton County to the late Anton and Albina Pilcik Zalman. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her daughter Anna Svrcek and husband Richard of El Campo, sons Victor L. Valchar Jr. and wife Shirley of El Campo, Anthony Valchar of Stafford and Raymond Valchar of Wharton, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and sister Agnes Zamazal of El Campo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor L. Valchar Sr., son Richard Valchar, great-granddaughter Halo Rain Valchar, brothers Joe Zalman Sr., Celestine Zalman, William Zalman, Ed Zalman, Jerome Zalman, Albert Zalman, and infant brothers Richard Zalman and Anthony Zalman.

Visitation will begin on Monday February 10 at 1 pm at Triska Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 11 at 10 am at St. Philip's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Nada.

Pallbearers will be Richard Svrcek Jr., Anthony Valchar Jr., Tristan Valchar, Rockey Gonzalez, Brad Smink, and Devon Janak. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
