Gertrude V. Witchey, 85, formerly of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Highland Manor & Rehabilitation Center, Exeter.
Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Ann Zuk.
She attended area schools and had been employed by General Cigar Factory, Kalon Laundry, Whalen Laundry and Morgan Knitting Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, in 1993; and a brother, Thomas.
Surviving are a son, Louis, Wilkes-Barre; a daughter, Ann Ward and her husband, Paul, Nuangola; a sister, Sylvia Mooney, Morea; grandchildren, Louis and Dana Witchey and Amy, Jeffrey and PJ Ward; and a great-grandson, Nicholas.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy City. Interment in St. Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy Township.
