Carl E. Ashby, Jr., 73, of Memphis, formerly of Marks, retired air conditioning and heating contractor, died of cancer Thursday, October 31, 1996, at his home. Services were at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, at Richland Baptist Church with burial at 3:00 p.m. in the Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ashby, a World War II Navy veteran, was the husband of Frances F. Ashby. He is survived also by four daughters, Nona Gardner of Little Rock, Denise Brogdon of Germantown, and Mary Ann Lucas and Nancy Cowell, both of Memphis; one son, David Ashby of Omaha, NE; and 11 grandchildren.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or United Cerebral Palsy.
