He was serving as the pilot on a B-17F called "Mary Ann" which took off from Kimbolton with an assigned target of Le Bourget airfield, France. After a fighter attack at 0925hrs seven crew baled out before the aircraft exploded near Le Bourget, crashing at Plessis Chent near Corbeil, France. 3 KIA 7 POW
