Mary Anderson Gilreath is the daughter of Jefferson Davis Gilreath, sheriff and Marie Washington Anderson. She was born in Greenville, SC and attended Greenville Women's College, graduating in 1910 in a class of 19 women.

She married Julian Edgar Clinkscales, an attorney and they are the parents of Jefferson Gilreath Clinkscales, Lieutenant Emma Florence Clinkscales, Mary Clinkscales and Jane Clinkscales.

Mary Gilreath, 69, a resident of Route 4. Wetumpka died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday after a brief illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are the husband, Julian E. Clinkscales Sr., Wetumpka; two sons, Jeff G. Clinkscales, Greenville, S. C.; Julian E. Clinkscales Jr., Wetumpka; four daughters, Miss Emma Clinkscales, Salisbury, N. C.; Mrs. Mary White, Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs. Ria Jane Chiepalich, Montgomery; Mrs. Elizabeth Graves, Sylacauga; four sisters, Mrs. John S. Taylor, Greenville, S. C.; Mrs. James Derieux, Charlotteville, Va.; Miss Elizabeth Gilreath, Chambersburg, Pa.; Mrs. H. L. White, Spartanburg, S. C.; 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Serv- ices will be held from Leak- Memory Chapel today at 11 a.m. with Dr. J. R. White officiating. Burial will be in Green- wood Cemetery with Leak- Memory Chapel directing. Active pallbearers will be, Fred H. White, Rush Pearson, John H. Thomas. John W. Lamar, Philip Poundstone and M. L. Hardin.
