Reuben L. Dobey, 95, of Quincy, formerly of 2611 Kings Pointe, died at 2:38 a.m. Tuesday (December 30, 2014) in Good Samaritan Home.

Born October 12, 1919, Reuben was the son of Estel and Ivah Still Dobey. He married Vivian Nebe on December 2, 1939, in Hannibal, Missiouri. She preceded him in death September 16, 2014.

Reuben was a 1938 graduate of Quincy High School. He was a long time member of the Spring Lake Country Club and was a avid golfer. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, especially with his son, Michael, taking many trips when he was in his eighties.

Mr. Dobey served his country in World War II in the United States Army Air Corp, 8th Air Force, as a Tech Sgt.

Reuben was employed at Quincy Compressor as Chief Engineer for 35 years, until his retirement in 1981.

Survivors include his daughter in law, Sandra Dobey of Monticello, MO; a granddaughter, Heather Maguire (Dennis) of West Chester, OH; and a great granddaughter, Molly Grace Maguire of West Chester, OH.

Mr. Dobey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian; his son, Michael Dobey; a grandson, Brian Michael Dobey; a brother, Russell Dobey; and two brothers in infancy, Lloyd Dobey and Floyd Dobey.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Greenmount Cemetery with Chaplain James Riley officiating. The Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will conduct Military Honors at the graveside service.

The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
