The funeral for James Lawrence Douglas, 84, of Rt. 1, Shenandoah will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at the Warren G Kyger Funeral Home by the Rev. Alfred Come. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Douglas died Monday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1893 in Page County and was a son of Branch L and Maggie Young Douglas.
He was a brakeman with the Norfolk and Western Railway 54 years before he retired. He was member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and Leake's Chapel Church of the Brethren. In August of 1957, he married Treva Irene
Reed, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Elwood Douglas of Fresno, Calif; two daughters, Olive Middleton of Delta, Pa. and Joyce McAndrews of Shenandoah; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shenandoah Rescue Squad or Shenandoah Volunteer
Fire Department.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends also may call at the Douglas home.
