James Loyd Fortner of Marks, age 86, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Baptist Hospital-North Mississippi at Oxford of heart failure.
Services were at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks on Monday, August 23, at 4:00 p.m. with burial in Marks Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Laurie Jones officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Born in Webster County on September 5, 1923, he was a farmer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and the U. S. Air Force having served in World War II and Korea. He was a member of West Marks Baptist Church.
The widower of Minnie Elizabeth Blumhorst Fortner, he is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Waller (Dr. Richard) of Marks and Sharon Wright of Memphis, TN; a son, James L. Fortner (Kathy) of Marks; two sisters, Frances Ashby of Cordova, TN, and Bernice Ferguson of Vardaman; two brothers, Howard Fortner of Alabama and Bobby Dale Fortner of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
