James Francis Gowans was born October 14, 1956 on the *Ramstein US Air Base, Rhineland-Pfalz area of Germany while his father was on a military tour of duty there. He is the only son of Rae Lucille Meek and James William Gowans.
He moved a lot because of his father's military career. As listed above he started his life over in Germany. And in the early sixties they were in Washington D. C., as his father was serving at the Pentagon.
But by 1969 they were living in St. Louis, Missouri. But then his father retired from the service and transferred to Lackland Air Base, San Antonio, Texas. His father was being treated for cancer at the time and had lost a foot,(because of the cancer), and his leg was not healing well.
After his father's leg finally healed, for a short time the family moved to Roswell, New Mexico. But the cancer in his father's body continued to grow and the family had to move back to San Antonio, Texas to be near the doctors and hospital. James' father died on September 28, 1972, when James was almost 16 years old.
James and his mother Rae, continued to live in San Antonio, Texas. Where she passed away on her birthday, February 14, 1986. He trained as a beauty operator and worked with Saks Fifth Avenue in San Antonio, Texas.
James passed away on April 27, 1991 and is buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
