Mrs. Herkert was born the daughter of Dominick and Euphemie St. Pierre Carani. Her husband, Lester T. Herkert, whom she married Aug. 29, 1936, at St. James in Highwood, died Jan. 4, 1998. She enjoyed baking and was also known for her homemade noodles she made for the Food Pantry.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia DiFiore of Zion, Loretta Hartsock of Kankakee; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Donalda Gibbons of Hesperia, Calif.
Deceased are one son, Lester "Butch" Herkert; 12 brothers and sisters.
