He was serving as the radio operator in a B-24H which took off from Harrington, England at 230hrs on a S.O.E. operation to "Historian 14", France. Before dropping supplies to the French Resistance, the aircraft hit a tree at 0130hrs near the drop zone and crashed at Pressoir, two and one half miles north of Ferrieres-Gatinais, eleven miles NNW of Montargis, France. All 8 crew members were KIA. Four are buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and other three were repatriated home.
