A Funeral Mass was scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria for Father Charles E. Karl, a senior priest of the Diocese of Peoria who recently marked the 50th anniversary of his ordination.
Father Karl, who served as paster or administrator of several parishes in the diocese including two decades at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Chatsworth, died at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was 76.
Biship Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, will be principal celebrant of the funeral Mass. Visitation was scheduled for two hours before Mass at the cathedral. Entombment in Resurrction Mausoleum in Peoria.
Fr Karl was born in Burlington, Iowa, Dec.8, 1930. The son of Charles and Mattie (Simms) Karl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Martha Knipp and one brother, George Karl. Surviving are a niece, Janet Tuttle, and numerous cousins.
