Catherine Kurtenbach, 90, of Chatsworth, died Wednesday (June 23, 1999) at
Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, with a Rosary recited at 5 p.m., at
Hager Memorial Home, Chatsworth.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Brunskill, 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Chatsworth, where she was a
member.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Chatsworth.
Memorials may be made to her church.
She was born Aug. 30, 1908, on a farm in rural Ford County, the daughter of Owen
and Margaret Carney Kurtenbach.
Surviving are one sister, Rita Kurtenbach of Chatsworth; two brothers, Floyd and
Clarence Kurtenbach, both of Chatsworth; nine nieces and nephews and 27 great-
nieces and great-nephews.
She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society; the Catholic Woman's League;
local, state and national Retired Teachers Associations; Royal Neighbors; and
Livingston County Home Extension.
She was a 1926 graduate of Chatsworth Township High School and received a
Bachelor of Education degree from Illinois State University. She taught in three
rural schools, including the historic Little Red School House in Chatsworth
Township. She then taught in the Strawn School until she retired in 1972 after
46 years.
