In the 1850 Census, Lawson and wife Rachel can be found living next door to his mother Charity Loyd in Marion County, Alabama. They had no Children
In the 1860 census, Lawson was living in Louisville precinct, occupation potter, age 35. He was issued a land patent on May 25, 1883 by the land Patent Office of Jackson, Mississippi.
In the 1870 census, Lawson continues to be found in Winston County as a potter.
According to the birthpalces of his Children as noted in the census records, Lawson apparently moved to Winston County between 1856 and 1858. He was a poter there. Archaeologist have noted that by 1909, three generations of the Loyd family had made stones ware in Winston County.
Children of Lawson and Rachel:
James Allen Murrah Loyd (11-3-1850 to 5-13-1922 married Josephine Ann Watson in Itawamba County they had 12 children.
William Schaffer Loyd (12-13-1852 (in AL) to 2-22-1905) married Ira Susan Mitchell 9-3-1883 they had 9 children (my 2nd great grandparents)
Margaret Jane Loyd (8-24-1856 (in AL) to 7-27-1887)
Mary Elizabeth Loyd (12-12-1858 (in MS) to 1891)
Sanford Lawson Loyd (11-2-1862 (in MS) to 1937) married Cornelia Crowell
John Alexander Loyd (12-5-1865 to 1870)
Thomas Feltcher Loyd (12-12-? to 1905)


The Loyd's were known for their Pottery Headstones and held the Patent on them.
