Anna M. Maltby, age 98, of 707 S. 19th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday evening,
September 16, 1999 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 20, 1999, at the
Salvation Army Citadel. Officiating at the service will be Major and Mrs. David
Biggs assisted by Captain Paul Logan. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
The former Anna Whitby was born October 29, 1900, in Pueblo, Colo., daughter of
the late George and Ellen Parsons Whitby. On October 3, 1929, she married George
Edward Maltby in Chicago, Ill. Anna was commissioned a Salvation Army officer on
June 21, 1921, (Great Call Session) being an officer for 42 years. During the 42
years she was stationed with her husband S/Major George Maltby in ten different
locations include Chicago and Pekin, Ill, Mitchell, SD., Sious City, Iowa,
Milwaukee, Wis., Manitowoc, WI., Superior, Hancock, MI. Nevada, Mo., and West
Plains, Mo. the couple retired and resided in Manitowoc since June of 1963. George
preceded her in death on August 15, 1982.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David G. and June Maltby, Manitowoc;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen J. and Edward J. Brinkman, L'Anse, Mich.,
Lois A. and Hans Friede, Molndol, Sweden; 11 grandchildren, Lois, Sarah and Edward
Brinkman, Linda, Mary, David, Charles, Steve, and John Maltby, Kathy Barton-Evons,
and Karen Sealy; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and David Whitby. She is further
survived by a niece and nephew, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Salvation Army Citadel from 11 a.m.
Monday until the time of services at 1 p.m.
