Maltby, David G.

David G. Maltby, age 75, of 2124 S 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, August 4, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on April 9, 1936 in Pekin, Illinois, son of the late Major Edward and Major Anna (Whitby) Maltby. David was a veteran of the US Army. On February 18, 1955 he married Joan Strouf at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. David was employed with White House Milk Company and the City of Manitowoc for 33 years until his retirement in 1993. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. David enjoyed antique cars, motorcylces, camping and traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife: Joan, Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law: Linda Erdmann, Manitowoc, Mary and Robert Jacobson, Whitelaw; four sons: David Maltby, Sturgeon Bay, Chuck Maltby, Manitowoc, Stephen Maltby, Two Rivers, Jon Maltby, Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean and Edward Brinkman, L'anse, MI, Lois and Hans Friede, Madison; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Stephen and Doreen Strouf, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his companion: Reggie.

Private family services were held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service was Captain Jeremy Stouder. Burial has taken place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, with graveside military rites accorded by Amvets Post #99.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc has been assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Aurora VNA Hospice and the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and support given to David and his family.
