Sylvia Ruth Bruner, affectionately known as "Mimi," went home to with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Ruth was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Panama, Okla., to the late Calvin Lear and Lillie Francis Hood Mason. She was a beautiful lady and she lived and loved life to the fullest. She was an avid gardener and had many talents, including crafting, quilting, ceramics and interior decorating. But her lifelong love was being a nurse, where she helped and treated many people. She worked as a private nurse for Drs. Ladd, Stowe and Coffee at the Coffee Clinic during the 1950s. Ruth was always involved with her family and practiced her nursing skills on many of them. Ruth and her only child, JoAnn (her little Shirley Temple), always had a close relationship. Ruth was loved by all her family and friends and will be missed by them all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Bruner, in 1987; grandson, Stephen Paul Utley; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors: Daughter, JoAnn Bruner Bentle and husband, Elton; grandson, Kenneth Utley and wife, Beverly; granddaughters, Christa Utley and Shanna Monahan and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Brandon Utley and wife, Kara, and Ricky Whisenhunt; great-great-grandchildren, Nilhes, Zack and Genesis Burnette and Suzanna and Claire Monahan; brother, Everett Mason; sister, Viola Wallis; numerous nieces and nephews; and several children and grandchildren of her son-in-law, Elton Bentle.
