Staff Sergeant Meisenheimer was the radio operator aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-24D Liberator #41-11826, serving with the 308th Bomb Group, 375th Bomb Squadron from Pueblo Army Airfield. He was killed as a result of a mid-air collision with another B-24 while on a training flight, southeast of La Junta, Colorado. Six other servicemembers also perished.
