His wife's maiden name was Bierly daughter of Nicholas Bierly. Children: David of Nittany Valley, Daniel of Illinois, Samuel of Milesburg, Professor Henry of Rebersburg, Mary intermarried with Rev. George Weirick (deceased) she is now Mrs. John F Price of Sugar Valley, Matilda married Samuel Mingle of Lock Haven & Judith wife of Joseph Bierly of Rebersburg.
From The Genealogy of the Meyer Family:
Henry learned the millwright's trade with his father. His school privileges had been limited consisting of a few weeks in the winter at schools which were deficient in everything except an assortment of rods to lick the scholars. However being quite fond of reading he acquired considerable knowledge of subjects. He could read both English & German and write in both languages. During the late war he was a War Democrat but in later years never took any political stand. He was economical but not penurious, very plain in dress and opposed to all forms of ostentation. He disliked exceedingly to see people live beyond their means. He was a large man weighing about 200 lbs, his complexion was fair, his eyes blue and his hair a flaxen color.
