William Hampton Mahlon Middleton, 87, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away on Aug. 3, 2010.
He was born in Parksley, Va., on March 30, 1923, and was the son of the late Upshur and Maura Hickman Middleton.
Mr. Middleton had resided in Shenandoah for the last 20 years. He was a supervisor for Baltimore Gas and Electric for 43 years before retiring. He served in the Air Force and flew 34 missions over Germany during World War II.
On June 6, 1946, he married Olive L. Douglas, who preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2007.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah L. Benisch of Easton, Md.; a sister, Ruth Mears of Huntsville, Ala.; sister-in-law, Joyce McAndrews of Shenandoah; brother-in-law, Elwood Douglas of Las Cruces, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Pannell Middleton.
The family will receive friends at Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 6, from 1 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Alfred Comer officiating. Burial will follow at Leake's Chapel Cemetery.
