ROY LYLE MILLER (d. 2004)

Roy L. Miller, age 67, of 1407 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Roy was born April 25, 1937 in Elmhurst, Ill., son of the late Roy and Mattie Wells Miller. He was a 1955 graduate of Glen Ellyn High School. Roy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Oct. 4, 1955 and was discharged on Oct. 3, 1958. On Dec. 27, 1958, Roy was married to the former Susan Copeland at St. Mark Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn, Ill. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1966 and Roy worked for AMF Paragon Electric Co. Inc. in Two Rivers as a tool and die maker, he later moved to the engineering department. Roy also for a short time owned and operated Manitowoc Tool & Die & Engineering during the 1970s after which he returned to Paragon retiring in 1999. In 1972, Roy and Sue became actively involved in Heart-A-Rama and for more than 25 years they were well known for their involvement with the "Heart Dogs." Roy was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis, a volunteer driver for the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department and a volunteer for Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Survivors include his wife: Susan Miller of Manitowoc; his five children: Penny (Todd) Gauger of Walworth; Michael Miller of River Falls; Bradford Miller of Prescott, Ariz.; Christopher (Sandy) Miller of Jupiter, Fla.; Todd (Kari) Miller of Janesville; and eight grandchildren also survive. Relatives and friends may call at the Jens Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 from 2 until 4 p.m. for a time of sharing and remembrance of Roy/s life. Cremation will have taken place with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for Heart-A-Rama in Roy's name.
