Ashley V. Milton, age 91, of 433 N. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday,
January 9, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Janaury 14, 1999, at
the Phipps Memorial Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church. Officiating
will be Rev. William Plank, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Ashley was born April 4, 1907, in Fox Lake, Wis., son of the late Frank
and Grace Hatcher Milton. He attended schools in Pardeeville, Wis. He
married the former Pearl Kerr on October 30, 1934. She preceded him in
death in 1987. For 57 years, Ashley was a barber and retired in 1985. He
is a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was also a past Deacon.
Ashley was a member of the Manitowoc Lodge #65, Free and Accepted Masons
where he also served as Worshipful Master; Manitowoc Chapter #16 Royal
Arch Masons serving as High Priest; Manitowoc council #18 Royal and
Select Masters serving as Thrice Illustrious Master; Manitowoc
Commandery #45 Knights Templar serving as Eminent Commander; Wisconsin
Priory #16 Knights of the York Cross of Honour; Two Rivers Shrine Club
where he was a past president; Tripoli Temple, Milwaukee; Kiwanis Club
Manitowoc; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; past member of the Manitowoc Chapter
#196 Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Charlotte
Milton, Eldorado, Wis.; one daughter, Janet Nicke, Fargo, N.D.; six
grandchildren, Kelly (William) Stelsel, Brandon, Wis., Kathleen (Shawn)
Baumann, Rosendale, Wis., Tom Milton, Eldorado, Wis., Cassie Nickel,
Fairbanks, Ala., Debra Nickel, Fairbanks, Ala., Susan Nickel,
Minneapolis, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Cody, BJ, Ashley, Shae,
Cheyenne, Lindsey; special friend, Dolores Gauthier, Manitowoc. Besides
his parents and wife Pearl, he was preceded in death by four brothers
and one sister.
Relatives and friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Jens
Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, where Masonic Memorial Services will be
held at 7 p.m. by Mr. Kenneth W. Beck.
Relatives and friends may also call from 10 a.m. on Thursday until the
time of services at 11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Shriner's
Hospital for crippled children.
The Jens Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
